The Alluring Sights Of The Ever-Scenic Alleppey
Alleppey is a famous backwater destination in Kerala

Most of us come to Kerala in the hope of being to a place that offers us some places to visit.  The point when the travel becomes a bliss is when a person is actually having a great time when on the tour as people will only realize when they witness.  I had been one such person who had fallen in love with the place when I had been there on a Fabulous Kerala Tour Packages. The backwaters keep calling back right after you leave the place. The place that I had been to was Alleppey, which is most famous for the backwaters located there.

The Vembanad Lake, a national waterway is the way through which we get to see the beauty of this totally blessed nature hub. Walking through the agricultural fields of Alleppey we truly feel the nature when in that presence. I had already decided to row through the backwaters, not in the usual house boat but in the traditional catamaran. I had found a mate who had been quite old to accompany me during this. He had been servicing on the lake for 17 years and was 42 years old. Since I did not have any language barrier it was easy for me to communicate to him.  Even though I already had read about Alleppey when I had been planning the trip, I felt like I knew nothing when he started to tell me regarding the same place. It is true that only a person who has lived through it will know the story of the place.

After crossing to the other end, he accompanied me to the Mullakal Market which will surely be a surprise to the people who are used to shopping malls. On walking through the market, people would remember all that they would have seen in old movies. People had been shouting aloud what they had and the exciting prices of it too. A Variety of things was being sold therefrom spices to jewelry and handicrafts. I saw a Kathakali mask which was made beautifully in a shop on the side from where I got one for myself.

The people had been quite busy trading things to the Europeans and other tourists who had been there. After walking for some distance, the catamaran keeper and I got into a speed boat in order to see some sights which make the place favorite to the people. The coconut trees on the side made the place look beautiful. The first place where I was taken to was a beautiful church, named the St. Mary’s Forane Church.  The architecture of the church was a fascinating factor. Being one of the very earliest Roman Catholic Church, it has been rebuilt quite many a times. After walking around the church for some time listening to the church hymns, I left the place and got back to the boat to continue my Lovable Kerala tourism packages

The Vembanad Lake had been simmering as the speed boat was finding its way to the PathiramanalIsland.  In the midway, we stopped for some lunch. If we had been in a houseboat journey, it would have been easy for us to eat as a cook accompanies the travelers who serve the people with some authentic Kerala food. Quite a number of lake view restaurants and toddy shops had been on the way. We stopped at a small shop which had been made out of coconut leaves. Local people of the place had already been sitting and having lunch there. We moved into a corner bench and we were served with meals on a banana leaf. They told their specials and inferred if we wanted any. The aroma of the fish that was being cooked was mouth watering due to which I ordered a plate of Indian Anchovy and Prawnsroast. The taste equaled the aroma and the price was the most surprising factor of all. In case we had gone to any other restaurant with looks, the taste would not have matched the food served here and the price would have been over the board. Tipping them well, we set forth to the Pathiramanal Island.

The specialty of this Island was that it was a hub of the birdwatchers. It was located on to the border to Kottayam. On reaching the place I got to see extremely beautiful birds from which I felt like extracting their colors. As we moved further, we got to see a lot of birds like Herons, King Fishers, and whistling Ducks. TheIsland was a habitat of these local species as well as of the migratory birds.

After spending sometimes talking about the species of birds, we got back on the journey and continued the travel. We got to the Alleppey town as we wanted to avoid taking the ride under the sun which was probably in boiling point. Hiring an auto, we went to the Krishnapuram Palace. This museum houses a large number of paintings, sculptures, and coins which belong to the ancient past. Other than that, mural paintings and sword had all been displayed in the hall.

The final place for my visit was the Alappuzha beach. A large crowd had been there with their families and friends spending time together watching the sun set. Street vendors had been there selling balloons and toy for the kids. I got some hot pakodas from the tea stall and enjoyed the view of the beach. Quite a lot of events like the sand art and beach festivals take place in this beach during a particular time in a year. To be at a place that offers a lot of sites for visiting at a very cheap price was an advantage I had taken on being here. My Budget-friendly Kerala tour package with price had indeed had done justice to me. Alleppey has been very famous for its houseboat rides. But when people set on houseboat journeys, they miss the musings of the town where a lot of sites are worth having. The life of the village, the people residing there have got things to show us which we never get to see in the city lights.
